Cookie Policy
Last updated October 31, 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Couchletics (“Company,” “we,” “us,” and “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit our website at https://couchletics.com (“Website”). In short: we use what the Website needs to work and stay secure, plus Google Analytics to see which pages people use. We don’t show ads here. We may use Google’s advertising features so our own ads can reach people who visited, and you can opt out at any time (see Do you serve targeted advertising?).
What are cookies?
Cookies are small data files that are placed on your computer or mobile device when you visit a website. Website owners use them to make their websites work, or to work more efficiently, and to provide reporting information.
Cookies set by the website owner (in this case, Couchletics) are called “first-party cookies.” Cookies set by anyone else are called “third-party cookies.”
Which cookies and similar technologies do we use?
| What | Who sets it | Why | Kind |
|---|---|---|---|
Security cookies, such as __cf_bm | Cloudflare, our host | Tell real visitors from bots and protect the Website from abuse | Strictly necessary, third-party |
| Checkout cookies | Stripe, on its own secure checkout page | Take your payment and prevent fraud | Strictly necessary, third-party |
| Your cart, saved in your browser's local storage (not a cookie) | Couchletics | Keep your cart between visits. It stays on your device until you check out | Strictly necessary, first-party |
| Visit counts | Cloudflare Web Analytics | Count page views. It doesn't use cookies or follow you to other websites | Analytics, no cookies |
Visit statistics, _ga and _ga_R47GET5LW9 (Google sets them for 2 years; Chrome keeps cookies 400 days at most, about 13 months) | Google Analytics | See how many people visit, which pages they use, how they found us and which products they look at, add to cart and buy (the products and amounts only). Names, email addresses, shipping addresses and order numbers are never sent | Analytics, third-party |
| Google's advertising cookies, set on Google's own domains (such as doubleclick.net), only if we turn on Google's advertising features | Let our ads on Google and its partners' sites reach people who visited, and give us anonymous audience reports (such as age range and interests) | Advertising, third-party |
Strictly necessary cookies can’t be switched off on our side without breaking the Website. Google Analytics isn’t needed for the Website to work: you can block it in your browser, or with Google’s opt-out add-on. Google’s own notice explains how it uses data from sites that use its services.
How can I control cookies on my browser?
Every browser lets you block or delete cookies. If you block the ones above, parts of the Website, like checkout, may not work. Here’s how in the most popular browsers:
To clear your cart, empty it on the Website or clear this site’s data in your browser.
What about other tracking technologies, like web beacons?
Apart from Google Analytics (above), we don’t use tracking pixels or web beacons on the Website, and our order emails don’t contain them. Emails from The Roster, our email list, are sent with Sender, which may count opens and link clicks so we can see what’s useful. You can unsubscribe from them at any time.
Do you serve targeted advertising?
We don’t show ads on the Website. We may advertise Couchletics on Google and its partners’ sites, and turn on Google Analytics’ advertising features for visits from the United States:
- Google Signals: for people signed in to Google who allow ads personalization, Google links their visits across devices and gives us anonymous reports on our audience (such as age range and interests). We never see who they are.
- Ads personalization (remarketing): our ads can reach people who visited the Website.
With these on, Google and we use Google Analytics’ cookies together with Google’s own advertising cookies. We never send Google your name, email address, shipping address or order number, and we never sell your information for money. Some US state laws call this kind of advertising “sharing” personal information or “targeted advertising”. You can opt out at any time:
- Turn on Global Privacy Control (GPC) in your browser. We honor it: Google’s advertising features stay off for your visits.
- Turn off personalized ads in Google’s My Ad Center.
- Block Google Analytics altogether with Google’s opt-out add-on, or block cookies in your browser.
Google’s own notice explains how it uses data from sites that use its services.
How often will you update this Cookie Policy?
We’ll update this Cookie Policy if the cookies we use change, or for other operational, legal or regulatory reasons. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
Where can I get further information?
If you have any questions about our use of cookies or other technologies, please email us at info@couchletics.com.
